Description

Trieste is the northern city of the Adriatic sea, facing the gulf, on which a port has been built which has been able to accommodate ships for trade throughout Europe for centuries. The city of Trieste, besides being a very important economic point of trade, has always been the meeting place of many different cultures and religions! The surrounding areas suffered the same influences and in 1855, at the behest of Maximilian of Habsburg, the castle of Miramare was erected as the residence of the Habsburg court. The castle overlooks the Gulf of Trieste, is 6 km far from the city and it is surrounded by a large park of about 22 hectares characterized by a great variety of plants.

The excursion continues in Slovenia, visiting the Postojna Cave, 21 km of caves and tunnels, which make the caves the largest in the Karst and the most visited in Europe.
